What Profhilo Structura is
Profhilo Structura comes from the same family as Profhilo, but it is designed to work at a deeper level. It uses a hybrid hyaluronic acid complex that is placed into the fat layer beneath the skin, rather than just under the surface.
There it helps to regenerate collagen, elastin and the fat tissue itself, which gives lift and structural support to areas that have started to thin or lose definition. At the same time it improves hydration and texture in the overlying skin.
It is not a traditional filler. It does not create significant volume or change the shape of your face, which is why it suits people who want to look firmer and more defined rather than fuller.
Who it suits
Profhilo Structura is often considered by people noticing early signs of facial ageing: a softening jawline, some loss of definition, thinner skin or reduced elasticity in the mid and lower face.
If your concern is mainly skin quality, such as dullness or crepiness, the original Profhilo may be more appropriate. If you have more marked volume loss, a dermal filler or Radiesse might be discussed. We will talk you through which option makes most sense for your face, and it may be a combination over time.
The treatment course
A course of two treatments, spaced four weeks apart, is recommended. Each appointment takes around 30 minutes, and numbing is available for comfort.
Results develop gradually as the tissue regenerates, so the change is subtle and builds over time. Improvements in firmness, structure and skin quality typically last around six to nine months, with maintenance treatments every four to ten months depending on how your skin responds.

Profhilo Structura is carried out by a member of our injecting team, Karen, our founder and nurse prescriber, or Lorna, an HCPC-registered operating department practitioner, at our Save Face accredited clinic on Edison Road. Both are regulated healthcare professionals who work in aesthetics every day.

Safety
What you need to know before Profhilo Structura
Every treatment carries risk. Nothing here replaces the consultation, where all of this is discussed with you before you consent to anything.
Not suitable if
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Active infection, cold sores or inflamed skin at the treatment site
- Known allergy to hyaluronic acid or lidocaine, or a history of anaphylaxis
- Autoimmune conditions or immunosuppressive treatment, assessed individually
- Dental work or vaccinations within two weeks either side of treatment
Common and expected
- Mild swelling, redness or tenderness, usually settling within a few days
- Small lumps at the injection sites that soften over the following days
- Bruising
Serious risks
Serious complications are rare. As with any injectable hyaluronic acid treatment, there is a small risk of infection and, very rarely, of product affecting a blood vessel. Our injectors are trained to recognise and manage complications, hyaluronidase is kept on site, and you are given a number to call straight away if you notice unusual pain, whitening or mottling of the skin, or any change in your vision.
Aftercare
- Avoid touching or massaging the area for the rest of the day
- No makeup over the injection points for twelve hours
- No alcohol, strenuous exercise, saunas or steam rooms for 24 hours
- No facials, peels or other treatments over the area for two weeks
- Sleep slightly elevated for the first night or two if you swell easily

Questions
How is Profhilo Structura different from Profhilo?
Profhilo works just beneath the skin to improve hydration and texture. Profhilo Structura is placed deeper, into the fat layer, to restore structural support and definition in the mid and lower face.
Is it a filler?
Not in the traditional sense. It does not add significant volume. It works by stimulating your own tissue to regenerate, giving a firmer, more supported look.
How many sessions will I need?
A course of two treatments, four weeks apart, is recommended, followed by maintenance every four to ten months.
How long do results last?
Typically around six to nine months, although this varies from person to person.
Is there any downtime?
Very little. You may have some mild swelling, tenderness or small lumps for a few days, but most people return to their normal activities the same day.
Do I need a consultation first?
Your consultation is free and there is no obligation to go ahead. It is where we check your medical history, talk through what you would like to change, and agree a plan together.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please give at least 48 hours notice if you need to move or cancel your appointment, so the time can be offered to someone else. Deposits and late-cancellation terms are explained when you book through our online booking system.

Yes. The clinic is at 28 Edison Road, St Ives, PE27 3LF, roughly 15 minutes' drive from Huntingdon and around 30 minutes from St Neots and Cambridge.
