A Profacial cleanses, exfoliates and hydrates your skin in one treatment, using vacuum suction together with a blend of glycolic, lactic and salicylic acids. Dirt and oil are drawn out of the pores, and you can actually see what comes out, before hydrating ingredients are infused back into the skin for a fresh, healthy glow.

How the Profacial works
The Profacial works in stages. First, the skin is cleansed and exfoliated to remove dead cells from the surface. Then a combination of glycolic, lactic and salicylic acids helps to loosen congestion, while strong vacuum suction draws dirt, oil and debris out of your pores.
Many people find this part surprisingly satisfying, as you can see what has been removed during the treatment. With the pores cleared, hydrating ingredients are infused into the skin, leaving it feeling soft, plumped and comfortable.
The result is skin that looks clearer, more even in tone and noticeably more radiant. There is no downtime, so a Profacial fits easily into a lunch break or before an evening out, and the benefits are best kept up with regular treatments.
Express or Deluxe
The Profacial Express, at £70, is the core treatment: cleanse, exfoliate, extract and hydrate. It is a good choice for congested or dull skin, or as a regular maintenance facial.
The Profacial Deluxe, at £95, adds three further technologies. ION lifting uses a positive and negative current to stimulate the skin's tissue and muscles for a lifting effect. Multipolar radiofrequency uses a circular handpiece to warm the deeper layers of the skin and stimulate collagen. Ultrasound uses a sonic handpiece to activate fibroblasts, the cells in the skin that produce collagen.
If you are unsure which to choose, we can advise at your appointment. The Deluxe is usually a good fit if, as well as clearer skin, you are interested in supporting firmness and tone.
Your Profacial at Avismo
Profacial treatments at Avismo are carried out by Andrea, a registered nurse with more than 40 years of healthcare experience, including dermatology, or by Lorna, an HCPC-registered operating department practitioner. Their clinical backgrounds mean your skin is assessed with a clinical eye before anything begins, and the treatment is adjusted to suit how your skin responds on the day.
A Profacial combines well with other treatments at the clinic. Adding Dermalux Flex LED for £30 is a calming way to finish, and dermaplaning can be added for £30 if you would like extra smoothness. If your concerns are more specific, such as pigmentation or scarring, a chemical peel or SkinPen microneedling may be recommended as part of a longer plan.
To keep your skin clear between appointments, our team offers free skincare consultations and can recommend a home routine using ZO Skin Health or our own Avismo Skin range, finishing each morning with a broad spectrum sunscreen such as Daily Defence SPF50+.

What happens at your appointment
- 01 We check your medical history and look at your skin, and confirm whether Express or Deluxe suits you best.
- 02 Your skin is cleansed and exfoliated to remove surface build-up.
- 03 The acid blend and vacuum suction work together to clear congestion from your pores. You may feel a little pressure during this stage.
- 04 Hydrating ingredients are infused into the freshly cleansed skin.
- 05 If you have chosen the Deluxe, ION lifting, multipolar radiofrequency and ultrasound follow.
- 06 We finish with moisturiser and sun protection and go through your aftercare.
Safety
What you need to know before Profacial Hydrofacial
Every treatment carries risk. Nothing here replaces the consultation, where all of this is discussed with you before you consent to anything.
Not suitable if
- Active cold sores, broken skin or infection in the treatment area
- Isotretinoin (Roaccutane) within the last six months
- Sunburn or very reactive skin on the day
- Known allergy to aspirin or salicylates, or to any ingredient used
- For the Deluxe: pregnancy, a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device, or metal implants in the treatment area
- Recent injectable treatments or other facial procedures, timed individually at consultation
Common and expected
- Mild pinkness or warmth for a short time
- A feeling of slight pressure during extractions
- Temporary sensitivity, especially if you use active skincare
Serious risks
The Profacial is a low-risk treatment. Bruising or small broken capillaries from suction are uncommon and settle on their own. With the radiofrequency element of the Deluxe, there is a small risk of heat irritation, which is why settings are adjusted to your skin and your comfort is checked throughout. Contact the clinic if you notice anything that concerns you.
Aftercare
- Wear a broad spectrum SPF 50 every day
- Avoid makeup for a few hours if you can, to let your skin settle
- Skip retinoids, acids and scrubs for 48 hours
- Avoid saunas, steam rooms and heavy exercise for 24 hours
- Drink plenty of water and keep your skin moisturised

Questions
What is the difference between Express and Deluxe?
The Express (£70) cleanses, exfoliates, extracts and hydrates. The Deluxe (£95) adds ION lifting, multipolar radiofrequency and ultrasound to support firmness and stimulate collagen.
Is there any downtime?
No. Some people look a little pink for a short while, but you can usually return to your normal activities straight away.
Does it hurt?
Most people find it comfortable and relaxing. You may feel some pressure during extractions and a gentle warmth during the Deluxe radiofrequency stage.
How often should I have a Profacial?
Results are best maintained with regular treatments. We will suggest a frequency based on your skin and your goals.

Can I add other treatments?

What is your cancellation policy?
Please give at least 48 hours notice if you need to move or cancel your appointment, so the time can be offered to someone else. Deposits and late-cancellation terms are explained when you book through our online booking system.
I live in Huntingdon, St Neots or Cambridge. Is the clinic easy to reach?
Yes. Many of our clients travel in from Huntingdon, St Neots, Cambridge and the surrounding villages. The clinic is at 28 Edison Road, St Ives, PE27 3LF, about 15 minutes' drive from Huntingdon and around 30 minutes from St Neots and Cambridge.
