The story behind the name

AVISMO began with a name that held deep personal meaning. It was formed from the initials of Karen's daughter, and it reflected what mattered most at the very beginning: love, care and a deep sense of responsibility.

As the clinic grew, so did the meaning behind the name. What began as something personal became the philosophy that guides every decision, every treatment and every patient experience.

2014
Karen founds Avismo as a small, nurse-led practice built on evidence-based treatment, patient safety and natural results.
May 2025
Lorna, an operating department practitioner, joins the team.
July 2025
Avismo moves to larger premises at 28 Edison Road, St Ives, to meet demand and improve the patient experience.
October 2025
The clinic achieves Save Face accreditation after an independent assessment of training, clinical standards, the treatment environment and patient care.
December 2025
Andrea, a registered nurse with more than 40 years of experience, joins and brings medical acupuncture to the clinic.
January 2026
Avismo is recommended by The Tweakments Guide, the independent resource founded by journalist Alice Hart-Davis.

Karen Moseley

Founder, Registered Nurse and Independent Prescriber

Karen qualified as a registered nurse in 2000 and has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare, across acute medicine, A&E, district nursing and as Lead Nurse in a GP practice. She holds a degree in Primary and Community Care and led the Transforming Cancer Care in the Community project for seven years.

She began working in medical aesthetics in 2014 and founded Avismo the same year. As an independent nurse prescriber she carries out every prescription consultation face to face, and she is known for natural results and her specialist knowledge of the skin.

Lorna

Operating Department Practitioner

Lorna qualified as an Operating Department Practitioner at the University of East Anglia and has more than 19 years of healthcare experience, including emergency theatres, orthopaedics and day surgery at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, the Papworth cardiothoracic team and the Hinchingbrooke gynaecology outpatient team.

She still works NHS bank shifts, has more than three years of experience in aesthetics, and joined Avismo in May 2025.

Andrea

Registered Nurse and Medical Acupuncturist

Andrea is a registered nurse with more than 40 years of experience, including dermatology, midwifery, research nursing, practice nursing and cancer care.

She joined Avismo in December 2025. Her focus is holistic medical acupuncture for menopause, the side effects of cancer treatment and general wellbeing, alongside a number of skin and tightening treatments.
