Why do I look tired even when I have slept well?
Tired Eyes and Dark Circles Treatment in St Ives
Several different things can create the same tired look under the eyes, and each one needs a different approach. The right treatment depends on which you have.
A hollow under the eye, often called the tear trough, is caused by loss of volume and changes in the bone around the eye socket. It casts a shadow that looks worse under overhead lighting. In the right person, carefully placed dermal filler can soften this hollow, but it is a delicate area and not everyone is a good candidate.
Thin, crepey skin is a different problem. The skin under the eye is some of the thinnest on the body, and as it loses collagen the darker vessels and muscle underneath show through. Filler does not thicken thin skin. Polynucleotides and platelet rich plasma (PRP) are better suited here, because they work on improving the quality and thickness of the skin itself over a course of treatments.
Fine lines and crow's feet at the outer corner of the eye usually come from muscle movement when you smile. Anti-wrinkle treatment can soften these, and skin boosters can improve hydration in the surrounding skin.
Some dark circles are pigment, often inherited, and some under-eye bags are caused by fat pads that have pushed forward. Injectable treatments will not remove pigment, and filler can make puffy bags look worse. We will tell you if that is the case.
Where the skin itself has become thin, crepey or lined, Morpheus8 Burst can be used carefully around the eye area to firm and smooth it, without adding any volume.
Most people have more than one of these, which is why we look closely at your eyes in different lights at your consultation before recommending anything.
When this is not the answer. Under-eye bags caused by fat pads pushing forward are not something injectable treatments can fix, and filler can make them look worse. If that is your main concern, we will explain your options, which may include a surgical opinion.
