What is Morpheus8 Burst?

Morpheus8 Burst is the newest treatment at Avismo, and the next step on from the radiofrequency microneedling many of our clients already know. It combines fine microneedles with radiofrequency energy to stimulate collagen deep in the skin, firming, smoothing and renewing it from within. If you have been looking for a treatment for texture and scarring, fine lines or early loosening of the skin, it is well worth knowing about.

How does Morpheus8 work?

Morpheus8 is a form of radiofrequency microneedling. A handpiece places a grid of very fine, insulated needles into the skin, and radiofrequency energy is released from their tips. Two things then happen together. The tiny channels made by the needles trigger the skin's natural healing response, and the gentle heat from the radiofrequency tightens existing collagen and encourages new collagen and elastin to form. Because the energy is delivered beneath the surface, the outer layer of the skin is largely protected, which helps it heal quickly.

What makes Burst different?

Burst technology delivers radiofrequency energy at several depths in a single pulse, rather than treating one depth at a time. That means the deeper supporting layers and the more superficial layers of the skin can be treated in one pass, so treatment is more efficient and the whole thickness of the skin benefits. Your practitioner adjusts the depth and the energy for each area, which is why Morpheus8 can be used on delicate areas as well as firmer ones.

What happens at an appointment?

Every treatment starts with a consultation, where we look at your skin, take your medical history and agree what you would like to achieve. On the day, a numbing cream is applied and left to work before treatment begins, and most people describe what they feel as warmth and prickling. Including preparation and numbing time, an appointment usually takes around 45 to 90 minutes, depending on the area.

Downtime and aftercare

Expect redness and some swelling for a few days, and you may notice tiny marks from the needles for a short while. Downtime depends on the settings and the area treated, so it is worth planning around any big events. How many sessions will I need, and when will I see a difference?

Most people have a course of treatments spaced several weeks apart, and your practitioner will recommend a plan for your skin. Collagen builds gradually, so results develop over the following months rather than overnight. Many clients then have occasional maintenance treatments to keep their skin looking its best.

Is it right for me?

Morpheus8 Burst suits many skin types, but it is not right for everyone. It is not carried out during pregnancy, over active infection or inflamed acne, or for some people with certain medical conditions or implants, which is why we always assess you first. If your main concern is firmness deeper in the face and neck, HIFU skin tightening may also be discussed, and if you would prefer a gentler first step for texture, SkinPen microneedling may suit you better.
