What to do
- Avoid touching your face for the rest of the day
- No makeup for 24 hours
- Cleanse gently with water or a mild cleanser for the first 24 hours
- Avoid acids, retinoids and vitamin C for around five days
- Avoid exercise, saunas, swimming and sun exposure for 48 hours
- Wear SPF 50 every day for at least two weeks, and ideally always
What is normal
- Redness, mild swelling and sensitivity for 24 to 72 hours
- Light flaking or dryness as the skin heals
- Occasional pinpoint bleeding during treatment
When to call
Infection is the main risk and is reduced by sterile, single-use needle cartridges, careful technique and following your aftercare, especially avoiding touching your face and makeup in the first 24 hours. Changes in pigmentation are possible, particularly in deeper skin tones or if the skin is exposed to sun, and are minimised by suitable depth settings and daily SPF. If you are prone to cold sores, please tell us, as treatment can trigger a flare.
